Michelle Tumes and Aura In Concert
Walla Walla College, College Place, WA
Aura was the opening act for this packed concert at Walla Walla College, College Place, WA. The college girl trio and band had the audience up on their feet from the start. Their praise and worship format unrolled from a foot-tappin' entry into a more meditative worship. The girls had good stage presence and their vocals blended well together. I think they would do well to spread their talents further.
Michelle Tumes entered the stage without any fanfare. She opened with a quiet prayer song before moving into a few more rockier numbers. Her show was kept very simple and she had good audience rapport, in spite of her self-proclaimed shyness. She introduced her 3-man (all brothers) band, kidded around about wearing her husband's deodorant, and shared personal stories behind each song. She even stepped out into the audience at one point to have a surprised total stranger sing a phrase. After performing a few of her radio-hits Michelle sat down at the piano. For the rest of the evening she blessed her audience with more of her self-written songs in her beautiful ethereal voice.. After leaving the stage she was forced back onstage with a standing ovation and encore. She came back to the piano and sang Healing Water for the second time that night. Following the concert Michelle stayed late to visit and sign autographs.
